Addictions and Compulsions

Some people do not feel equipped to handle the reality of life without using substances or escapes to get away. These are the strategies of reality avoidance, and unfortunately, they often become habitual and eventually, addictive.

To break these habits one needs more than self-discipline. Freedom from addictions and compulsions requires facing the feelings that have heretofore been avoided. Our therapists can gently guide you toward a calmer, more centered life.

"An addiction is a distinct personality- like the alter personalities that people with multiple personality have. It will do anything to be kept going. It will steal, lie and cheat with impunity. The only way to save the person is to acknowledge the addiction personality and direct treatment to this entity."
