Buddha Meditates on the Nature of Duality

Son-one walked along the river.

Son-one saw the Buddha fishing with his feet dangling in the water.

"What are you doing?" Son-one asked.

"Meditation." said the Buddha.

"And what have you caught?" Son-one asked.

"The twin-fish of the Tao," said Buddha.

"Is that the truth?" Son-one asked.

"As sure as I am sitting here," said the Buddha.

"Can you teach me how to catch the Tao?" Son-one asked.

"No," said Buddha, "You can only catch it if you're free of disease."

"How do I get well then?" Son-one asked.

"You must unlearn yourself." said Buddha.

"How?"

"You teach your heart to think and your mind to feel."

"How?"

"It happens on its own," said the Buddha.

"Come here, put this line in the water. Get very still and the Tao will come."

"When?"

"When it's time," said the Buddha.

Son-one sat. He didn't notice the Buddha stand up and walk away.

After a while Son-one caught the Tao.

Son-two was walking along the river. He stopped when he saw

Son-one fishing with his feet dangling in the water.

"What are you doing?" Son-two asked.

"Meditation." said Son-one.

"You look like the Buddha. Are you sure you're not the Buddha?" asked Son-two.

"I AM." answered the Buddha.
